Delta Community Credit Union is the largest credit union in Georgia in terms of both asset size and membership. With more than $5B in assets and 350,000 members, it also ranks among the top 25 largest credit unions in the U.S. Its membership comes from those who live or work in 11 Atlanta metro area counties. Some of the companies the credit union serves are: Delta Air Lines, Chick-fil-A, RaceTrac and UPS. As a not-for-profit credit union, it gives back its earnings to its customers and their local communities. Delta Community is a state-chartered credit union organized under the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance and federally insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund. There are currently 27 branch offices with assets of more than $5B. It is a member of CO-OP, formerly known as CU Service Centers, a nationwide cooperative that allows customers to bank at over 3,500 credit unions and over 5,000 branches.

History
In February 1940, Delta Employees Credit Union was organized by eight Delta Air Lines employees in Atlanta, Georgia with a stake of only $45 in share capital. On March 8, 1940, Delta Employees Credit Union received a charter entitling it to 20 years of operation. Within a month after its charter was granted, the first board of directors was composed. The board voted that membership was open to all Delta employees. By the end of 1940 assets had grown to approximately $2,000.
In 1960, the board was granted a renewal of the credit union's charter. By 1983, assets exceeded $200M, a first for any credit union in Georgia. Delta Employees Credit Union has been the largest credit union in the state of Georgia since then.
On March 8, 1990, Delta Employees Credit Union celebrated its 50th anniversary. As part of the celebration, a $50 savings bond was presented to each member in good standing.
In July 1994, the credit union adopted a policy of "Once a member, always a member," thus eliminating the stipulation that an individual had to be an active Delta employee to enjoy the benefits offered by the credit union. Membership was also extended to the parents of active and former Delta employees in good standing. 1995 brought about a couple of milestones for Delta Employees Credit Union. The total number of members eclipsed the 100,000 mark. Membership privileges were extended to include children, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers and sisters of the member and their spouses. In 2001, domestic partners of members were added to the field of membership.
In October 2005, Delta Employees Credit Union became Delta Community Credit Union to signify its new focus on the community while keeping its Delta Air Lines connection.
In 2008, the field of membership broadened to include residents of specific counties and employees of various companies. Assets exceeded $2.8B and membership had grown to over 181,000. Delta Community Credit Union partnered with LEVEL5 to build its 12th branch in Newnan, GA, which had energy-efficient features. In 2010, with over 200,000 members and more than $3B in assets, Delta Community's mission is to provide quality, fairly priced financial services. Mobile Banking was made available to members in early June 2010 which provides the flexibility to complete a variety of financial transactions at any time and anywhere through their cell phone, smartphone or other mobile device.
In 2013, Hank Halter was appointed President and CEO of Delta Community Credit Union and was named one of Atlanta's top 100 leaders in finance by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
In September 2015 & 2016, Delta Community was recognized as one of Atlanta's Best Places to Work by the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
Membership
Membership is open to anyone who lives or works in Georgia's following counties: Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Hall or Henry. Current, former or retired employees of various companies throughout the U.S. may also join. All eligible companies are listed on the Delta Community website. Members of the following associations are also eligible for membership: Atlanta Air Cargo Association, Constitutional Officers Association of Georgia, Creflo Dollar Ministerial Association (CDMA), Georgia Society of Rheumatology, Georgia Tank & Environmental Contractors Association, Independent Freight Forwarders and Customs House Brokers Association, Morehouse College National Alumni Association, Northern Kentucky Alumni Association, Physicians' Alliance, Inc., PIAG (Printing and Imaging Association of GA), Universal Retail Wholesale Association, and Universal Trucking Benefits Association.

Delta Community Credit Union has branch locations in the states of Georgia, Kentucky, Texas and Utah. Delta Community Credit Union branch locations include: Atlanta, Buford, Canton, Decatur, Duluth, Fayetteville, Gainesville, Johns Creek, Marietta, Newnan, Peachtree City, Sandy Springs, Snellville, Stockbridge and Suwanee. City locations outside of Georgia include: Florence, Kentucky; Southlake, Texas and Salt Lake City, Utah.

Delta Community Credit Union offers personal banking services and business banking services such as checking accounts, savings accounts, health savings accounts, credit card accounts, online banking, online bill pay, new car loans, used car loans, student loans, personal loans, vacation loans, RV loans, boat loans, home equity loans, home mortgages and consumer loans. Commercial banking and services offered are: commercial real estate lending, SBA 504, equipment and vehicle financing, and lines of credit. The credit union also provides financial planning services in their Delta Community Retirement & Investment Services division and insurance through Members Insurance Advisors, LLC, a subsidiary.
Community involvement
Delta Community Credit Union is involved in the communities it serves through a variety of programs and initiatives. In 2016, Delta Community Credit Union's Philanthropic Fund, gave $80,000 to 17 charitable organizations and then increased its commitment to impact 22 organizations with contributions totaling $100,000 in 2017. Organizations impacted by Philanthropic Fund Support include Wellspring Living, which provides a safe haven for abused and at-risk girls in metro Atlanta.
Helping the next generation defray the costs of higher education is another way in which Delta Community serves. Their annual Scholarship Program awards five scholarships totaling $20,000. Through a partnership with KISS 104.1FM, Delta Community awards $8,000 per year to students attending HBCUs. Recipients of the $2,000 scholarships are selected quarterly.
The credit union provides valuable information via its Financial Education Center, which includes online courses and financial counseling services as well as in-person seminars and workshops at its branches.
Delta Community particularly looks to impact the lives of the next generation through its support of education and is a proud partner in Junior Achievement BizTown, a program to help middle school students build financial literacy.
Through the programs mentioned above, along with membership and support provided to 14 chambers of commerce and deep involvement with Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, Delta Community Credit Union contributed nearly $600,000 to their communities in 2016.
Delta Community Credit Union participates in national and local fundraisers including sponsorships of Children's Miracle Network through Credit Unions for Kids in the communities it serves. Credit Union staff members volunteer their time to ensure the success of these fundraisers.
